RadiativeCoatings.com
About / methodology

Independent insight. Explicit assumptions.

RadiativeCoatings.com is a B2B information and project-screening platform for passive daytime radiative cooling. We do not manufacture coatings.

Our role

Help asset owners understand where radiative cooling may be relevant, compare technology categories and define the evidence needed for a decision. Supplier introductions are a possible next step, not a substitute for technical due diligence.

We do not certify products or treat supplier claims as independently verified. Any commercial relationship associated with a future supplier introduction should be disclosed before you proceed.

How the calculator works

Version 1.0 uses a deliberately simple editorial index. The weights prioritise follow-up; they have not been calibrated against field outcomes. A score is not a success probability, cooling-power estimate or energy-saving percentage.

InputPoints / treatment
Exposure / sky viewFull sun, open sky 35; partial 18; mostly shaded / obstructed 0; unknown 5.
Existing surfaceDark bitumen or metal 30; concrete / tiles 18; light-coloured or unknown 8; already reflective 0.
Main objectiveCooling demand, indoor comfort or equipment heat stress 20; general exploration 10; PV performance 5.
Cooling contextFor cooling-demand objectives: confirmed active cooling 15, unknown 5, absent 0. General exploration 5. Other objectives 10.
Application & PVSolar / PV applications or objectives, or any PV status other than “No PV”, cap the total at 69.
Uncertainty capsUnknown exposure or surface caps the score at 69. Mostly shaded / obstructed surfaces cap it at 39. The lowest applicable cap wins.
Location, area & timingRecorded for project context; no points. No weather lookup, scale economics or urgency bonus.

LOW: 0–39. Limited initial opportunity. MODERATE: 40–69. Potential with constraints or unknowns. HIGH: 70–100. Favourable screening inputs; further investigation is worthwhile.

What this screen does not establish

Local climate, insulation, internal heat loads, existing product properties, winter heating impacts, degradation, maintenance and installed cost are not modelled. There is no prediction of surface temperature, indoor temperature, kWh, payback or emissions reduction.

A feasibility assessment needs local weather and operating data, a baseline, appropriate product evidence and an agreed measurement approach. Equipment and BESS projects require the relevant manufacturer and safety specialists.

Data & privacy

The calculator result is computed in your browser. Project inputs are sent to the platform only when you submit a contact request. We store the submitted project and contact details, consent, date and screening-method version to review and respond to that request.

Supplier submissions store the company, product, evidence and contact information you provide. Submissions are not automatically published. Contact details are not shared with suppliers without your agreement, and neither form subscribes you to marketing.

Pre-launch notice: This site is currently an unpublished review. Before public launch, the operator identity, privacy contact and retention schedule must be finalised. The downloadable preview sends no data; its forms are demonstration-only.
